St. Mary's Chrysler Dodge Jeep Update on Dodge Viper Investigation by NHTSA

If you keep up with the latest Dodge news, chances are you've heard that the Viper is currently under investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA). We here at St. Mary's Chrysler Dodge Jeep do not want to alarm our drivers, but merely update you with the latest and most accurate information about the Viper's potential issues to keep you safe, happy and driving in confidence .

The cause for this investigation is attributed to two complaints received from third-generation owners of 2005 and 2006 Viper models, regarding rear suspension failure resulting in a loss of control and crash. Owners were later informed by mechanics that the issue that caused this failure derived from a rear suspension knuckle failure.

The investigation encompasses 2,500 of the sports cars but is being classified as a preliminary evaluation. If necessary cause is found, the investigation will progress into a more extensive engineering analysis. If the complaints are proven to be unfounded, the investigation will be closed by the NHTSA. Of course, if the need for a recall should arise, owners will be contacted in order to have any necessary fixes implemented.

As we said before, there is no cause for concern at this time. However, if you would like to put your mind as ease, St. Mary's Chrysler Dodge Jeep would be happy to help!
